The Nuud seals around your glass screen so that it is still water proof while allowing your fingers to interact with the iPhone glass. (They do provide a stick on screen protector to protect the glass from scratches if you want). the Fre has a built in plastic cover over the screen. So basically the nuud gives you the option for a closer interaction with your iPhone screen.

An Apple "Genius" at a local store told me that they believe the Nuud is also more waterproof than the Fre, due to the o'ring configuration. Both covers work well, but I prefer the Nuud and being able to actually swipe across the face of the phone. And the glass will not scratch, so no cover needed.

The nüüd allows you to touch the glass of the screen itself and you don't have the plastic of the frē's front protection between you and the phone.
