- Answer After installation, I was able to drop my Netgear Extender, but I saw no reason that I could not use it if I found that I needed it. So far, I have not needed it anywhere in the house.

QuestionI just purchased this router today and set it up according to the supplied Setup Guide. I downloaded the Linksys app as stated and gave a name to a band. Not sure if it was a 5ghz band or a 2.4ghz band. There is no more options for another band. Why?

- Answer You'll have to access the settings through your web browser on a hardwired ethernet PC/laptop. Then disable the wifi band steering. Then you have the option to connect to the 2.4GHz or 5GHz. The 2nd 5GHz is reserved for the Mesh devices.

- Answer Hi. The Linksys Range Extenders will work with the Linksys MR8300 Mesh router but, you can add Velop devices on your network to take advantage of its Mesh feature.

QuestionI currently have the Nighthawk R700, is this an upgrade to that? We still seem to have slowness or when watching Netflix, Hulu etc... it will freeze or stop working so looking for something to solve those issues

- Answer This will be an upgrade. Both routers are wireless AC, and both are dual band. However, the Linksys has the advantage in that it has MU-MIMO (Multi user-multi in multi out). Meaning another device using your wifi won't bog down your bandwidth while you are streaming video. Now all of this depends on your incoming bandwidth from your ISP. It cannot improve that. There are also other factors that affect wifi signals that any router upgrade can't fix either. Such as router location, interference, radio signal blockers (concrete, metal), etc. . .

QuestionDoes the second 5 GHz Band only connect with additional nodes ? If I set this system up with just the router unit, will the second 5GHz frequency still help with congestion for multiple devices or would I essentially be using only the 2.5 and one 5ghz ?

- Answer Hi. The Linksys MR8300 supports simultaneous tri-band which means that you can use the three network bands at the same time.
