NO--it only extends your current wifi connection to cover more area--in other words if you're having trouble getting the signal in an area of your home that is far away from your router, then you would put this extender halfway between the the router and the area where you need to increase the signal strength, and it will just help the signal to reach that area with better signal strength so that you can use the wifi in that area of your home.
