No. You can't have any case at all on the iPad or it will not fit into the slot.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Slot seems to be the exact width of the iPad (I have an early gen) so that it will stand up (no case). I do not think it would work with an Otter box, but I am not sure on the width of the Air.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The slot thickness is about 1.8 cm. If your iPad has a case (which could make it thicker) you can just lean the tablet against the case. You might need to put a rock or something heavy inside so it doesn't slip. (Only if you can't fit your tablet in the slot.)
