I am a bit confused about this myself, but here's what I think is going on. The cameras are 2K--I just answered another person's question about that on this BestBuy site. But, the NVR, the recording device, is 4K. Now, what does that mean? I really don't know. It sounds, at first glance, like the NVR can record more data (meaning, more data about more pixels) than the cameras are going to send it. But, why would anyone want that? So, maybe this question should be changed from the way you asked it to: "Why are the cameras 2K but the NVR 4K?"
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.description clearly says 5mp which is 4k. 8mp is 4k HD or 4K ultimate depends on manufacture.
