“Would it fit a Microsoft surface pro in the tablet compartment?”

• I don't think so. The tablet compartment is very tight and barely held papers.

• There is a pocket in the "front" of the pack that is about 7.5" wide and 10" deep. I think the Surface Pro I used to own might fit there. However, you wouldn't want to allow much impact to the back of your backpack where that pocket is because the padding is neither thick nor firm. The interior pocket that I think is meant for a tablet looks to be sized for maybe an iPad Mini. It's zipper opening is about 6.5" and the pocket depth is about 7 3/8". I don't think that's enough for a Surface Pro.
