QuestionThe info on this washer says it is not HE. Doesn’t a front loader without an agitator have to be HE? Otherwise that’s a lot of water going into the clothes for no reason, isn’t it?

- Answer The washer is HE and the detergent tray tells you to only use HE detergent. Probably a misprint on the website... I absolutely recommend this washer/dryer combo though! It is absolutely amazing. Washes clothes perfectly, quiet, great features, steam dryer is fantastic! It’s worth paying a little more for this model!

- Answer Yes, there is a difference between the two products: MHW5500FW has a rapid wash and 4 soil levels, whereas MHW8200FW has 3 soil levels and overnight wash and dry 12hr.

- Answer Ours did the same thing. We unplugged ours let the power die and plugged it back and and just waited. It went through a bit of a process but after about 15 min of running it unlocked itself. It's been good ever sense.

QuestionI notice on my Maytag MHW5500 washer the door striker plate is loose. Is the door plate part suppose to float somewhat ? The top screw holding it is all the way tightened while the bottom screw is not.

QuestionCan I put vinegar in the fabric softener slot?

- Answer Hi, thanks for the inquiry. We recommend only putting fabric softener in the fabric softener dispenser. If you add vinegar in the dispenser it will not dispense correctly. Single-dose laundry packets, Oxi-type boosters, color-safe bleach, or fabric softener crystals can be added to the drum prior to adding laundry. Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. QuestionIs the soap supposed to leak down immediately after putting it into the dispenser? The dispenser does not hold the soap until you start the wash. It drips down as soon as you put it in. Is this normal or defective?

- Answer You are able to use single-dose laundry packets with this Maytag® Washer. You would need to add them to the drum prior to adding your laundry. Please make sure you do not put them in any of the dispensers. We hope this helps!

QuestionWhy cant you get a 10" pedestal in Metallic Slate for the 5500 series washer and dryer. I cant use a 15.5 high pedestal. It doesn't make sense to make only white when you offer the washer and dryer in Metallic Slate too.

- Answer We ordered the Whirlpool pedestal in metallic slate and you can't tell they aren't the same color. It looks fine and works great for us.

QuestionWill a Kenmore 51023 pedestal drawer fit this washer

- Answer Size wise, yes. The Kenmore pedestal is wider and deeper. I've never had a pedestal, so I don't know if the machine has to mount to it like it does when you stack the washer and dryer, or if it just sits on top. Judging by the pictures, it looks like the Kenmore attaches to the machine. But if the Maytag is smaller, the brackets shouldn't matter, unless height comes into play. Dimensions are as follows. The Kenmore 51023 is 32.3" deep x 13.9" high x 29" wide. The Maytag XHPC155XW is 27 5/16" deep x 15.5" high x 27" wide. Hope this helps.

QuestionDoes this model have the Optimal Dispense Cartridge, and if so can it be filled for multiple loads?

- Answer Our machine which is brand new, the instruction manual says that it can take this dispense cartridge. Looks like the tray soap drawer comes out and the dispense cartridge goes in it's palace. I don't know what it costs tough. I think having a good quality detergent pod would work too and be cheaper since that can be periodically bought on sale. Anyhow, i hope this helps. Again, our instruction manual said yes, but it didn't go into much detail. We also did NOT get a sampler either.

- Answer I don't know if it is going to save or pay for itself. What I do know is that my clothes are cleaner the Machine Works quicker it holds more it uses less detergent it's just so wonderful for me to go from an old unit to this new fancy Maytag I highly recommended Jan

- Answer Yes. We did and it has saved so much space we added a pantry in the laundry room. You will have to buy a stacking kit and make sure your vents and hookups allign. I suggest having it delivered and letting them do it like we did.
