“I using new washer and I've tried different water temp different settings. I'm watching my clothes become twisted up before they've begun to wash! When it starts, as it's adjusting, my pajama bottoms are being ratcheted and tangled like a mop! Suggestion”

Try like weight items together, try heavier items on the bottom.

That is typical for most HE washers I know about...it's part of the reason HE washers get clothes so clean. By the end of the cycle they should be just fine.
