I'm not sure what you mean by a memory chip. It won't take any more enternal memory. However, you can plug in an external HD/SSD/Thumb drive if you get an adapter. You need a USB C to USB 3.0 OTG adapter/ I got two for $7.99.

You can add a microSDXC card for room. Also the dock adapter adds more slots for USB drives, and has a card reader.

Yes, it can take a micro SD card, just like the other Surface tablets.

Memory can be expanded via a 128GB SSD card.
