Surface Pro is a "real" computer. It comes with Windows 8.1 so it should be able to run any software that you use on your desktop (Photoshop, Excel, Acrobat, etc). Surface RT is the cheaper version that cannot run regular software, just programs from Microsoft's app store.

According to the QuickBooks' website, the PC version requires Windows Vista, 7 or 8. So I would say yes that you can run QuickBooks (for PC) on the Surface Pro 2.
