Hello there, Yes, the Surface USB to Ethernet Adapter (sold separately) connects your Surface Pro 2 to a network when Wi-Fi is not available. I hope this was helpful to you.

Just plug it into the USB port, the same as you would for a laptop. This does of course entail a wireless account for data. Price depends on how many gigabytes you contract for. Not sure if you can get it on Pay-As-You-Go type system.
