A:Answer That's really a question for Century Link. This modem supports the DOCSIS 3.0 standard, which allows uploads up to 200 megabits per second and downloads up to 1 gigabit (roughly 1,000 megabits) per second. The most recent DOCSIS 3.1 standard is capable of much faster speeds, but I settled for this one because it costs less and because I know my local ISP will not offer those higher speeds anytime soon.
I was upgrading from a funky old cable modem provided when we first signed on with this provider. They were billing us about $20 a month for it, so I figure it was paid for about $3 thousand ago. I confirmed with them before ordering that this modem would work with their service. They don't care about the model or manufacturer, but they should know it will work or not if you mention DOCSIS 3.0.
I hope this helps.
