A:AnswerI can’t understand why your friend wants to purchase a modem and doesn’t have a computer. The modem itself does not provide any Wi-Fi, so purchasing it wouldn’t allow her to do streaming or anything of that nature. However, if she wants to use a voice over Internet protocol device (VOIP) for her telephone, then she does need a modem. And this one would work well for that; it’s actually what I’m doing - using an Ooma device for telephone answering with a regular telephone and no landline. However, if she actually has a landline, I’d recommend instead that she purchase a telephone that has a built-in answering system. There are many good ones on the market, including systems that have cordless extension telephones that have a base that simply plugs into an electrical outlet. Some of these systems are sold at Best Buy but also at places like Cosco. Does this answer your question?
A:AnswerMaybe you got a bad product. Are you sure you have it plugged in probably. Try another outlet, because it should show powe button even without your cable or internet server era being involved.
A:AnswerIf I had to guess why you are having problems I’d say it’s proba the network card or router you are connecting to. it probably has only a 10/100mbs connection and you won’t get the 150mbs you are paying for. You need a router (or network card for pc) that has a gigabit port on it. From my experience that’s why it is amber and isn’t getting you the 150mbs. That is most likely reason. The other could just be
A:AnswerI think you are asking if this modem is compatible with cablevision. I this is your question, the answer is yes. The speed has not changed in my apartment.
A:AnswerThis product is only a modem. In order to have Wi-Fi, you need a router, which you can buy separately or you can use the one supplied by Comcast. It doesn’t make sense to me to use the Comcast product, as it is a combined modem and router. Since I am using my Apple Time Capsule for my router, I was able to get rid of my Comcast modem/router, for which I was being charged $11 per month plus tax, and instead purchased this handy little modem to provide the modem functionality. I then connected this modem to both my time capsule router and my Ooma VoIP telephone device. I then connected the Ooma to my telephone. So I have cut the cord as much as possible. I am paying only for my Internet, which I get from Comcast. I don’t have to have a landline for my telephone because I am using VoIP via the Ooma device. My existing router sends Wi-Fi to my computers, my tablet, my iPhone, and my Roku device for streaming TV. Woo hoo, I love it!! Just realize that if your Internet goes out, nothing works, including the VoIP telephone. It’s one of the reasons why I also have a cell phone, as that is not dependent on Wi-Fi. I can turn on my cell phone settings and use it like a normal cell phone within the house. So to answer what I think is really your question, if you buy this modem, you should buy a separate router and get rid of any Comcast modem or router. You will more than make up for the cost of the two items by not having to pay Comcast the monthly rental fee plus tax, assuming you plan to stay with Comcast for a while. Just compare what you are paying to Comcast and how long it would take you to rent from them compared to purchasing your own equipment. FYI, my brother (who is a computer nerd) recommended to me that I buy the modem separately from a combined modem router device from anyone, such as Best Buy or Amazon. His reasoning was that the updates that take place within the router world and the modem world happen on different schedules and it makes more sense to update only one device when that is actually really needed. Also, I recommend purchasing locally, because if something doesn’t work it is much easier to return and get a different model or a replacement of the same model from a place like Best Buy, as compared to Amazon. I buy a lot from Amazon, but not electronics for this very reason. Just be aware that Best Buy has a very short return window. I think it is around 15 days. I hope this answer helps!
A:AnswerYes, this modem will work with Spectrum and no, you do not need any additional products. When you’re ready to activate the modem, simply contact Spectrum via phone to provide the ID located on the bottom of the modem and they’ll active it for you. Quick, 15 minute process.
A:AnswerIt doesn't include a wireless router -- or any router -- so far as I could tell. It's just a modem & I hooked up a wireless router to it. It works fine as a router though.
A:AnswerI have this exact modem (MB7220) running on Spectrum Cable up in Maine. Originally, our Cable was Time-Warner, but they were merged/bought with Spectrum. So it actually has worked with both Time-Warner, and then Spectrum. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerI am Not sure what is the "best compatible wireless router", but I have been running for a couple of months, using an Netgear-Nighthawk AC2400 Wireless Router. I have Not had to reset either the Motorola Cable Modem (MB7220), nor the Netgear Wi-Fi Router (AC2400). However, I think that practically any Wireless Router that is compliant with Ethernet/Wi-Fi "AC/N/G/B/A" specifications will work quite well. I would also suspect that if you have approximately 2000 Sq. Ft. of coverage area (or more) in your House/Condo/Apt, then you would want to use a Wi-Fi Router with "External" Antennae, as opposed to a Router with built-in Internal Antennae. That is one of the reasons I upgraded from my Linksys Wireless Router to the Netgear Nighthawk; as my house is over 2200 Sq. Ft, and I had a couple of weak/deadspots due the Linksys Internal Antenna. Hope this helps.
