Q: Questionwe have comcast modem now but we do not have a router and never have will this work for us
Asked by dee.
- A:Answer It will if you plug the ethernet cable from the jack in the modem to the jack of a single computer. I assume this is what you are currently doing. This modem has only one ethernet jack. If there were more than one, you would have a Modem/Router combination. Without a router (wireless or switch box), there is no option to simultaneously connect multiple independent devices like, for example, a desktop, a laptop, and a smart TV. Hope that helps.

Q: QuestionDoes this modem allow Ooma. Phone system to be connected to the Router and make and receive phone calls?
Asked by Norm.
- A:Answer I use Magic Jack -- and never used OOMA, but I would imagine that it would work with any VOIP system. I do plug my MODEM into a CYBERPOWER surge protector - which allows many more things to be plugged in -- for example with MAGIC JACK there is no way to plug any power or ethernet cable into the MODEM but it is plugged into the POWER STRIP. There are not a lot of places to plug things into this modem.
