• Hi nKhosi, thanks for your interest in our product. Moto G6 Play's memory can be extended up to 256GB SD card. In terms of apps access to memory card, it depends on the app permissions. It might happen to one, but not on the other. -Jhei

• It does take an SD card and yes you can allow apps access to it.
