- Answer As a very happy and satisfied owner of a new MSI -17.3 Laptop I wont say which is better per se but I will tell you I am very happy with MY decision to go with MSI. First though the one and so far ONLY drawback I have is that my MSI doesn't have a CD drive so if you need one your going to have to get an external. Other than that My MSI boots up fast, runs cool, plays the games I want it to play at speeds that I can't complain about. I bought the GE72MVR Apache Pro, got the extended warranty just in case, bought the Office download and a new case to go with it and I love everything about it. I was thinking about alienware but I did some research and MSI kept coming up as the top notch brand, I have a coworker that uses one at the office and was impressed by what I saw, now as a owner I can fully understand and appreciate why. Either way best wishes in your decision.

- Answer From the videos I watched you can upgrade the drive, I haven't done it myself yet. The videos said this is an easy laptop to upgrade memory on just not the cpu or graphics card do to the fact both those items are soldered on.

QuestionI bought this computer but it only runs Csgo at 100 frames, rust at a constant 50 frames, and pubg at 40 frames. Is there something wrong with it is there a default? Or should this $1800 laptop run these games at better frame rates?

- Answer Some games I was told cap the FPS. I ran 118 on Crysis the other day, and 115 on Star Wars Battlefront 2. Most games have a lock of 30 or 60 as a default setting. What you can do, is go into the NVidia GeForce Experience Settings for the game, and try to see if there is an option to adjust that there.

- Answer Yes you can upgrade the SSD. It ships with a 2280 SSD card. You can use SATA or NVMe as the replacement, it also has slots for additional 2280 and a smaller 2242 or 2260 depending on revision of laptop.

- Answer You will not be able to add a third drive for two reasons. The first being that there is no optical drive on this unit to begin with. This leads into the second reason, which is that this laptop does not have any additional SATA ports available. You are more than welcome to upgrade any of the existing drives or use external drives!

- Answer This laptop is capable of streaming any game as it's equipped with a GTX 1070 and an i7-7700HQ. The main limiter is the internet speed and so depending on how fast the internet is, it will determine what quality the video will be to viewers. Nvidia Shadowplay can be used to record or stream games at little to cost to performance.

- Answer Don’t know much about graphics but it is totally great on this laptop, crystal clear without lag. And there’s no fan noise, never had an issue at all, quiet like ninja, powerful machine. I play games, watch movies, surf the web. The battery drains quickly so make sure you’ve got it plugged in especially during gameplay.

- Answer Music production is typically a lot less demanding on a computer than high end games are. and this machine can handle high end games. processing for music is going to be more dependent on RAM and process or speed. and this has more ram than your music program would most likely utilize

- Answer I am not certain about your information. The In Plane Switching (IPS) displays replaced the inferior Twisted Numeris (TN) displays which were common in the LCP monitors of 25 to 30 years ago. One of the key factors the IPS address was the poor color reproduction of the TN

- Answer Geek Squad should be able to upgrade the SSD. However, it may be cheaper to simply purchase the next level up which has a larger SSD. Personally I think there is a little bit of a myth of SSD. Your start up time for your computer will be about 10 to 15 seconds. My is ready to go in 11. However, if your playing high end games most of them now require connection to a game client. Because of that you will most likely see very little improvement in start time for games. I once did an experiment. I loaded COD WWII on my 7200 RPM HDD and from a fresh start started the game and different times of the day and timed it. Interestingly enough on multiple starting from a fresh reboot the start times varied from 0 to 30 seconds. I did this 8 times. I then uninstalled it and re-installed it on the SSD. Did the same thing. Start times varied by 0 to 25 seconds. The overall start time was about 5 to 8 seconds faster. The conclusion I came to was start up times are dependent on the gaming client you have to connect to and quite possibly how much traffic was online. I have this computer now and simply load all games on the HDD and they work great.
