This is not a “stone cold” quiet machine. I would create a home studio sound booth if I needed close to perfect recording environment. Moving blankets are a cheap way to accomplish this, but almost always you need to be away from the DAW. I understand if you are a one-person-band it is tricky. But there are ways to do it. Anyway, no, the fans are not quiet if you HAVE to record on top of your computer.
