“How do I know if it is recording and incident. If it is not recording how can I activate it and how far back will it go to start recording?”

Hi Sherri, You'll know that the dashcam is recording by either looking at the red flashing circle on the screen or the red LED flashing light. The dashcam should begin recording automatically unless the dashcam is set to motion detection mode, if this is on please turn it off.
