The dashcam has the capability of recording while the vehicle is turned off as long as the dashcam is either hardwired or powered by a power bank in order for the dashcam to have enough power to record while you're away from the vehicle. You'll know that the dashcam is recording by either looking at the red flashing circle on the screen or the red LED flashing light. The dashcam should begin recording automatically unless the dashcam is set to motion detection mode, if this is on please turn it off. If the accident impact was detected by g-sensor (big enough) and triggered the emergency recording, it will automatically saved in a different folder that won't be overwritten later on. The dashcam will only last about 5 minutes not connected to a power source.
