No. It is not. You do not want a hub on any network that you run. The GSS108E is a managed switch. It only has eight ports. But I am finding it a good seitch for my home network. Most home networks do just fine with an unmanaged switch. The only thing a hub is useful for is sniffing packets while troubleshooting on your own network. With a hub, only one device can use rhe network at a time. With a switch, multiple decices can communicate at the same time. With a managed switch, you can further segment your networks into other subnets.

Please try again later.If you connect this switch directly to the internet router, than yes, it will act as a hub communicating to all other devices on the network that are connected to it. If you connect it down the network somewhere connected to another hub or switch, it will act as just a switch. A hub is really just the first switch in the network, but they function similarly.
