I have 6 cameras. I bought them more than 1 month ago. All the batteries are still working. Some have faced intensive use (20 to 200+ videos a day) and are down to 1 battery bar, whilst others are still at 4 bars. For example, the one above my front door records only 4 to 16 videos daily of 30 secs each. It is still showing 4 bars. The one facing the garden is picking up the wind, clouds, sun, blowing grass, birds, and cats all day long. It has only 1 bar left. My advice is as follows: Lower the sensitivity from 100% to 70%. This means moths, birds and falling leaves are less likely to trigger a recording. Reduce the recording time to between 10 and 30 seconds. Turn on geo localisation so it does not record when you are present. Point the camera at places where movement would be unusual or infrequent. Don't point it at a busy high street, or it will record everything running down the batteries quickly and using up your Arlo data allowance. For that kind of use you would need the Arlo wired camera and a paid Arlo data plan. The ideal use of these cameras is to pick up special or unusual movements, so they are perfect to monitor the inside of your home when you are on holiday, but if you want to monitor a place with lots of movement, I recommend getting the wired version.

The batteries will die within a few days if the cameras are recording or being viewed a lot. You will get a low battery alert and the camera flashes an orange LED when batteries are low. If they are left alone and have minimum motion detection trips, batteries are SUPPOSED to last 4 to 6 months, but that is not my experience at all.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The system gives a low battery indication automatically. The batteries CR123A that come with the package are not rechargeable. I have not checked the open market for rechargeables for this battery type, but they would need to use an external (from the cam) charger. I would expect much shorter bat life from rechargeables than the stock super-long life Lithiums.

A handheld camera, outside in the full elements, the heat.. the cold... the rain..and pointed in the correct position and record time set so it doesn't record too long, or too many times a day....they could last 6 months or more. The trick to the battery life is how long the camera comes on and stays on. That is determined by, how many times the camera detects motion and turns on and how long you set the camera to record video when motion is detected. If you place the camera where a lot of motion is detected each day, like pointed at a busy street, you will get hundreds of videos captured each day and low battery life. Point it to your house where it only has to record maybe 10 to 15, 20 to 30 second videos a day and the batteries will last a very long time. I use rechargeable batteries. The store bought batteries are expensive. Each camera takes 4 batteries. All 4 cost like 23.00 total. Batteries come with the cameras, so you don't have to buy them when you first install the camera. The rechargeable batteries last about a month and 1/2. But just thrown them back in the charger and put in some new recharged ones.. easy peasy..The initial cost of the rechargeable is a bit much, but it pays for itself in the long run.

Depending on usage I.e. 3-4 minutes a day or less skate by to maybe 2 months --anything more replace batteries every month They do not suggest rechargeable - last half as long. And depending on placement of cameras quite a hassle. Great clarity easy set up lousy Battery life
