A:AnswerI have Comcast internet in my home but only the Comcast modem and I hooked this wireless router up to it and it works great in my house. 2000 sq ft. The wireless router is also in a closet in my spare bedroom. The signal gets out just fine.
In talking with a tech at Fry's electronics he said that he has the same set up as you and hooked up this wireless router to in (Ethernet) and it gave him better WiFi coverage in his house.
I know Netgear just came out with the Nighthawk X8 I would look at that one for your system. A little more expensive but it looks like it has better coverage.
A:AnswerI will recommend the Nighthawk. It also comes with a range extender, which you may or may not use. We haven't found an area in our house where we need it. The router is doing very well with out it. Here is the link to check it out.
We have a split level with thick walls and it works great with full bars until we go outside where we then have 3 maybe 4 bars.
