I don’t think this is the device you need if you aren’t experiencing weak signal strength in certain areas. What this device does is connect wirelessly to your existing wireless access point and boost the signal in the area where it is plugged in. It broadcasts its ID by default as
with -EXT appended to the end. I found a nice little overlapping circles diagram on the Netgear support website that illustrates how it helps extend the signal. Hope this helps.
