Imagine a 2 circle Venn Diagram. you need to go based on your routers distance and this extender depends on wall density and material. Example, I had mine set up with the router on the first floor and the extender in the basement. This way failed but my router was powerful enough to push through the concrete walls and boost signal to the second floor when in WiFi to Wifi mode. I eventual ran a cable because the signal pulses 2 sec off every now and again in no pattern. If you want to run it in WiFi to WiFi mode, then you may need another one of these to reach 150 feet. With concrete walls, this will probably only reach 30ft. With wooden walls, this will reach easily double that. Now If you want 5ghz with going throughout buildings, then you will definitely need 2 of these (5ghz is the fast signal). The pulsing mentioned is nothing noticeable to people who stream 4k or download a bunch of items, it does affect gaming pretty heavily though. It pulses for about 2 sec off then back on for a few then off for 2 seconds, etc. If you own an apartment complex, you may want to go with a commercial setup that can handle more devices but extenders usually only give 50% of the max original bandwidth. You can also try running an ethernet cable either in conduit and is outdoor certified or just by itself but you will need a booster/extender/repeater at 300 feet to be safe. This product is a WiFi extender and can be used at the other end as an access point (acts similar to a router but does not assign ip addresses) which then will not lose speed like a WiFi to WiFi connection. Summary: Faster Option- Use Outdoor rated ethernet cable to make an access point with this product Slower Option- Connect it via WiFi to WiFi for mediocre performance.
