So that’s a difficult question to answer without seeing your floor plan and where your original router is located. Also, what original router you have is fairly important. What this did for me, is extend a full 5ghz signal to my upstairs after some trial and error. I’m running a Netgear X10 downstairs and the signal was not full blast upstairs and pretty much non existent in the game room. I added the X6 mesh repeater and extended 5ghz upstairs. I have gigabit and pull a full 960 Mbps off of the x10 and around 600 mbps from the repeater. Yes, it will help Verizon WiFi falling in areas of the house you’re having difficulty connecting to. I do notice a small 2 or 3 second hand off when walking from upstairs to downstairs, when the phone hands off the signal from one device to another. Does not drop calls. Hope this helps.
