I have own the xr500 it’s really good if you have minimum devices but since I have a lot of devices connected to WiFi and ethernet cable I need something that can handle my gig internet better with all my devices and the xr700 has made everything lot better but it all depends how you manage your devices bandwidth but if you like to spend on something that would last and would make things better for you I would recommend it but if you have less then 8 devices connected I would go with xr500 but that’s more for a streaming person if you want good WiFi , good speed, no lag, I would go with xr700
