- Answer If the Verizon Fios router has an Ethernet connection, it should work. Routers are generally independent of internet service providers, besides the ones the ISP provide one with. I have AT&T fiber, which this is connected to. I use this router for extended hardwired connections as the ISP router only has 4 ports. Now I have 8 ports for hardwired Ethernet connections.

- Answer I don’t see why not. Typically, the only component that is specific to your Internet Provider is the cable modem. This Netgear device is just a Wi-Fi router.

QuestionI need a backup solution for my Time Capsule which is failing (and no longer made by Apple). Can I attach a portable SSD drive to the USB port on this and use it to back up my computers? This is very small SSD and does not have a power connection.

- Answer It looks like you can. According to the User Manual on pg 144, as long as your external device doesn’t require ‘driver software’, it should work.

- Answer I am using this device, because my internet service provider (ISP) provides a LAN/WAN cable connection. If your ISP provides a cable connection, then this Netgear Nighthawk model will not work. It will only work with a LAN/WAN cable connection. Hope this helps.

QuestionHow many MG of RAM does this router have? I need a min of 128MB, but would prefer 256 or 512 as we are upping our verizon service. Thanks! Also, for a 2 story, 2800 square foot home, do you recommend a booster/extender for the upstairs or down?

- Answer I'm unsure how much ram it has. Netgear may be better able to answer that question. All I know is it's pretty fast. With this, you may not need a range extender if it's centrally placed. I'm not really a wifi user, except for the occasional iPad usage because I have Fiber internet and need the speed on my devices.

- Answer The only WiFi you can Enable/Disable is the Guest WiFi. The only thing you can do with your regular wireless connection is "Disable SSID Broadcast" so it won't appear in the list of available WiFi Networks
