Q: Questionmy incoming cable connection is an old fashioned round cable wire. how do i install this router to that?

• A:Answer Short answer, you don't. I assume you have cable internet service? Most cable companies I know of use DOCCIS cable modems. So, to actually answer your question, you need to acquire a cable modem (check your ISP for details) then once you are on your ISPs network you plug the modem into this router's WAN port via an Ethernet cable. Both of these devices should configure themselves. Then just follow the directions that come with the router to set it up specifically for your network.

• A:Answer I just went through something g similar here. I had a router go out and recently replaced it with a few that were rather expensive from Motorola ASIs as well as D-Link only to find that the range was very limited me they were both plagued with constant and consistent drop outs. I too choose the Nether Nighthawk R8000 and couldn't be happier! Great range, no drop outs, blazing fast throughput in both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands not to mention I more than tripled my range of coverage area.....

Q: QuestionCan I configure this unit as my primary router and use my AirPort Extreme (5th gen) as a repeater?Hi - now that most of my devices have ac capabilities, and having heard good things about this router, I'm hoping that someone (more network savvy than myself) could help me in determining if I could use this router with my "old" (5th generation AirPort Extreme) used as repeader? I live in an apartment complex on the ground floor and would like to both boost my WiFi strength in the apartment (for a wireless connection to my TV) and to be able to receive a signal for those times when I take my notebook or tablet outside (no more than 30 feet away from my unit to the deck outside). I don't know that I'm explaining this very well, but... Netgear in den, hard wired to a couple of devices and AirPort Extreme in bedroom to boost signal to wireless TV in bedroom and, some 30 feet away, the communal giant deck. Do-able? Any other suggestions.

• A:Answer Yes you can do that, but it may be better if you move the NETGEAR to a more central location, or at least run an ethernet connection (long patch cord) to where you plan to have your Airport Extreme.
