I recently reviewed the same routers and saw the same reviews as you did. However i saw the date they posted their review and the went to netgear's website and from there you can see when they patched the bugs with firmware updates. They have since patched them. I bought mine last month and have never had any problems and have never had to reboot it. The main reason i went with the X8 was that it had faster data transfer rates for WiFi and really to best reason was that it had 6 switching ports. I ran Cat 5e cables through my house because if you truly want the fastest possible speeds, you need to run ethernet cable. WiFi will never be able to beat the data transfer rates of ethernet and since i ran cable, i went with the 6 port to give my more wires to run.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I live in a 2 story home with 90% brick and 10% hardie siding. I can go 200 ft outside and get a great signal. I can sit outside by the pool and have 5 bars. best wifi router I've had so far. And I've had all kinds of wifi routers over the years. One year it will be asus, linksys, netgear or TP Link and next year it will be somebody else...thats the way it goes. Just read reviews. And always check for firmware updates no matter what brand you get...I did one firmware update and one reboot since I got it in the beginning and thats it. No problems at all for 2 months. P.S. get the extended Warranty for it... you won't regret it they all will burn out over time... sometimes too soon...they run hot...all of them...because they are always on.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had zero problems with my router and I really believe it's the best router that you can buy below $500.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was able to pick up the X8 for $10 less than the x6 (price matched) so I picked it up. The x6 "looks" cooler (this looks like a small laptop), but this is faster and even more future proof--but I especially like the extra ports out the back (I use them all). From reading the review, with everything I have currently, there wasn't any noticable speed differences since my devices don't take advantage of everything--but for the apx same price--it was not an issue. I own the original Nighthawk 7000 which had a few bios updates and was STABLE and easy to configure. So far, this is also STABLE and I had no problems with the setup--seemed identical to the original (and I upgraded to the latest bios as soon as I got it).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not know all the specifics BUT! I do not regret buying it. My cousin have the X6 and is great! But the X8 is in other level compared. I have 80mb. And he manages it GREATLY! I recommend it. But always you can test if you like and if you don't you can return it..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No I recently bought the net gear night hawk 8 that your talking about the speed isn't nearly as good as they say and I had issues getting it installed on my PC had a bad experience with their so called free 90 day free support all I'll say about that is don't agree to pay the so called 1 time fee of $20.00 they ended up charging my card $499.99 which was more then router costed so I called them and they wouldn't refund the $400+ so be weary.
