The Netgear Nighthawk X8 is a WiFi router, and not a cable modem (which you would still need). The cable modem is the only device that must be compatible with the cable company. Thus, the X8 would work fine with any Internet service provider.

Yes it certainly does. It is also way better than At&T' s Uverse. Not sure they will ever finish running all the fiber where I live to make it match Spectrums speed! Uverse might be good In a few more years.by that time there's going to be a faster type of wire to use.

We have Spectrum Charter internet and it is working great with it. Did have some initial set up difficulties with it not talking to my Spectrum provided modem. After rebooting both units a dozen times then they started working fine. No issues since.
