Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I do not understand why you would not connect the Orbi to your modem and then place the two satellites in areas near the dead spots. I called Spectrum and they gave me a new modem without a router. I connected the Orbi to the new modem and called Spectrum so they would locate the new signal. Now I have excellent wifi throughout the condo and no dead spots.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You could use it as a second wifi system, but the way the Orbi mesh system works, you would be defeating the purpose of it. You can set up a guest network using the orbi system alone and still have a separate network for your own use on the orbi system. The way the mesh system works helps to prevent needing multiple single access points, instead giving you one simplified system that handles switching devices to the strongest signal without user input.
