“Does the extender wifi get the same network ID as the wireless router it is connected to?”

• By default it has a different SSID than your router, if you use the WPS button setup it will clone your router. You also have the option to connect to the access point and set it up to be anything you would like including being the same as your router.

• When you first connect the extender it will have the ssid that Netgear gave it at the factory. You can then customize the ssid for the 2.4 and 5 gHz signal as well as the password to whatever you want, but I did leave the _EXT at the end of the ssid so I know what wireless signal I am connecting to. My router puts out ssid HOME-234 so I made the extender ssid HOME-234_EXT.

• After you complete the set up, the extender does show the same network ID. Initially, it shows a different network ID but the instructions (and intuitive logic) direct you through the set up accordingly.

• No it will come out the box set as netgear EXT and from there change the name to your current routers network name followed by EXT

• No it does not. There are two extension networks visible. One is 2.4 GHz and the other is 5 GHz.

• No. It uses what you set up when you run. Through the guide. If you want to change it, go to 192 168.1.250.

• The ID will be different. Consequently, you will need to establish a unique connection between your device and the extender. However, if I'm remembering correctly there is a WPS button on the extender for ease of connection.
