• It should not be a factor. The surge protector is on the incoming power and this works off the wire past that device. We bought our to boost the signal down to the fire pit. It's 230 feet and the wire is under ground in PVC. The signal stays in the red most of the time on the unit but we can use the wifi down there for the TV. All in all it's a pretty good product.
