I cannot answer the solar connection question as I don't have (or can't find) the proper adapters to make that connection. But I can tell you that the cooler does come with a vdc connector cable which utilizes the round socket thing and that connection powers the fridge cooler quite well; even keeps the freezer section frozen.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I cannot recommend any solar options at the moment since I don't have the proper receptacle connector to match what goes into the fridge. But the fridge does come with a 12vdc connecting cable with standard round entry plug on the end which attaches to those round holes on the dash or wherever. I can tell you the fridge runs fine on 12vdc energy source. It's quiet too, can hardly hear it running.
