  • QuestionWill your system work with Starlink satellie for the internet connection? Thanks, SS

    Asked by SteveSpaceman.

    • Answer Thank you for the question and happy to support. The system will work with a hardwired connection to internet for secure feed and remote access. The key consideration would be your bandwidth limitations with any connection. If you are confident in the ability of your network to stream high quality video then you should be set for our system. Multiple settings will give you options for constant recording or event based recording that can help reduce the strain on your bandwidth also. Please let us know if you have any other questions. • QuestionHow Much can it record before recording over itself?

    Asked by Bart.

    • Answer You have a number of options to select from that will impact how long you can record. Motion activated record vs continuous record is the most impactful. Clips can be exported for safe keeping and to ensure any new recordings don't cause you to lose key footage. We advise exporting key moments via USB drive that can be attached to the recorder for safe keeping. On continuous record you should expect 7+ days while with motion only record you will get much more time before the storage begins over old footage. Thanks, Night Owl SP Support Team

  • Question8 cameras standard resolution how many days can keep in memory?

    Asked by joe.

    • Answer Depends on how high you have the sensors. But I have 4 and have them on human and vehicle and get a week. So you should get about half that with double the cameras. But they offer a online storage also. Not sure how long they stay on the cloud. This answer is just for the 1tb that comes with the unit.

  • QuestionDoes the dvr have wireless network connectivity

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer No — this DVR does not have wireless (Wi-Fi) network connectivity. It uses wired BNC connections for the cameras and must be connected to your router with an Ethernet cable for remote viewing and mobile alerts. Initial setup is handled through Bluetooth in the Night Owl app, but the system operates on a wired network connection. — Night Owl SP Digital Support Team

    Asked by Customer.

    • Answer Yes, this system can absolutely be set up to record and store footage locally on a closed system without requiring an internet connection. The 12 Channel 2K DVR stores video on the built-in 1TB hard drive, allowing for 24/7 continuous or motion-based recording. Internet is not required for core functions like recording, playback via monitor, and local camera management. However, internet is needed if you want to: Use the Night Owl Protect mobile app for remote viewing Receive push notifications Perform firmware updates So yes, the system will work fully offline for local surveillance and recording, but internet access unlocks remote features. — Night Owl SP Digital Support Team

Your Night Owl 12 Channel 8 Camera Wired 2K 1TB DVR Security System with 2-Way Audio supports up to 12 total channels—8 wired cameras and 4 Wi-Fi IP cameras (sold separately).
