QuestionI had seen something about heat and motion detection for recording , does this system have this ? Can you turn off the heat detection , as most of my cameras would be out of range to sense body heat or something like that to trigger a record or alarm .

- Answer PIR - Passive infrared(heat detection) + motion detection. yes you can turn off the PIR for each camera by going to cameras in the main menu and unchecking the PIR box.

- Answer Yes. When you are in the menu (on the system) you can pull up each camera. You will be able to select specific areas of the image that when motion is detected in that area it will send you a text or email. You may also select the sensitivity of the motion before it send the text. On the “app” in your phone or tablet you can select “notifications”. Once that is done it will send alerts to that device. When I set up device it wasn’t too clear on how to do this but found a you tube of “how to”. It’s a great system.

- Answer With our Night Owl systems, we provide you all the necessary accessories to simply plug in, install and use. For the initial set up you will require a TV/ Monitor, this will also allow you to view the live feed from the cameras. You can also download our Night Owl application to your smart device to view the live feed remotely, this last part required an internet connection with a minimum upload speed of 2 Mbps. Lastly, there is no monthly fees for using any of the features on the DVR. If you have any additional questions, please contact us by calling 1-866-979-0580. - Answer The cameras can be ordered or purchased at Frye's, Wal-mart, or Home depot. i would stick with the 3MP Cameras. i bought the same package and i don't think this particular DVR would support the 4 or 5 MP higher resolution cameras.

QuestionCan the cameras be mounted with longer cables then the 60ft runs they come with? My rear patio is 80 to 100 ft from where the hard drive would be mounted.

- Answer The dome cameras have microphones built into them and have an audio cable that can be plugged into the DVR which can record the sound along with the video. The other 8 cameras do not have audio capability.
