QuestionI installed 3/8 night owl 4K cameras and noticed both the live and video playback produce a clear but choppy video while viewing in app and from the DVR connected to a monitor. A tech said the choppy video is from my ISP, how to mitigate this issue?

- Answer Sorry I left out that the dvr is wired and I consistently run at 950+mbps (Verizon Fios)

- Answer Most Night Owl DVR/NVRs can accommodate larger hard drives. See your product Specifications for the max size. Our DVR/NVRs are compatible with internal SATA HDD's, 2.5" or 3.5". The HDD should have a minimum of 7200 RPM. We are not able to guarantee compatibility with external hard drives at this time. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

- Answer COO is China like most of these NVR kits. I don't know what the SKU number is for add on cameras but the model number is IP-8LTA-B-V2. The maximum distance the cable run can be is standard Ethernet or 100 Meters or about 328 feet. Hope that helps!

QuestionCan you hardwire with existing cat5 cable?

- Answer If your system is wired with BNC cable (where you have a power cable and a video cable together), then no. Cat5 is Ethernet cabling not BNC cable. If you are talking about an Ethernet wired system, then you should read the tech support info or contact someone at Night Owl on their chat lines and ask. If the system requires Cat6 cable, then I doubt Cat5 would work correctly -- but don't know for certain.

QuestionCan you connect the DVR to a NAS device for archiving and additional storage or can you expand the internal HDD?

- Answer If you are asking if you can record directly to a NAS device and bypass the internal hard drive completely, then I doubt it. The internal hard drive is a SATA drive and will not talk directly to a NAS device. If you talking about backing up data from the internal hard drive to a NAS device, then I would ask the Night Owl tech support on their chat lines service if that will work thru the USB interface.
