“Is it easy to charge the battery? I saw somebody comment about the Nikon S6000 not coming with an external charger and since this is my first digital camera I don't understand the issue.”

The camera comes with a USB cord that plugs either into your computer or the wall charger. You simply plug the USB into the camera and either plug the other end into the computer or the wall charger that is included. It is very easy to charge and the battery lasts a long time. I cant say much for the shutter, it does not like to open all the time.

What people mean by it not haveing the external charger is that they are wanting to remove the battery from the camera and place it into a charger plugged into the wall. With this camera the charger thats included is that it plugs into the wall then you connect the usb sync cable that you not only plug into the charger but you also use it to connect to the computer. then you plug the cable to the camera and charge it. There is one thing it does take about 4 hours to fully charge it. But the battery can last for a long time. I have used it ofr a full 8 hour period of time of taking photos taking over 500 pictures and about 3 40+sec movie clips and still had battery remaining. So after your done using it all you need to do is just let it charge over night. Yet if you wanting to cut the charging time in half you will need to purchase the wall charger that you place the battery into the charger once you have removed it from the camera.
