    I expected more

So I got a Sony 12mp/4xzoom and it wasn't the bomb, so I got this with 14mp/7xzoom for better action shots. I expected more and got about the same or worse. With these specs the video should be crisp and the pictures flawless, not really. Video is shot in HD so different software is needed to view the clips, not my favorite. The camera will only delete 1 photo at a time, unlike many other new cameras. Burst photos are not as easy and great as Ashton shows in his ads. I had it for a few days and took it back. Got the Panasonic Lumix with a bigger lense and hopefully clearer pictures.

Great for casual users, beware image quality

The Nikon S6000 is a solid camera for casual users, with quick response and numerous scene modes for different environments. It handles night or low-light indoor shots especially well. It also shoots decent 720p HD movies and has a mini-HDMI port for connection to your TV. The Nikon UC-E6 USB cable included is an irritant, because you can't use other micro-USB cables you may already own to charge the S6000. I caution more experienced photographers looking for a point-and-shoot 'sidearm' to look elsewhere, though. After comparing several different images at 100% zoom, the S6000's 14.1MP photos are noticably softer and noisier than those from my 3.5-year-old Canon A570IS with half the resolution. For all of their progress made in affordable digital SLR cameras, Nikon's Coolpix consumer line continues to fall behind because of low-end image sensors bested by Canon and Sony.

    Absolutely Awesome Camera!

I did some research for reviews and opinions about this camera and majority came out most positive, so I bought this coolpix s6000 as a back up or secondary camera for my nikon d90. and I had no regrets at all, It takes great pictures, quality is brilliant and very easy to use. I know it made some kind of plastic but this plastic made camera can do better than most metal made point and shoots. The delay thing isn't a big deal for me, it wasn't that bad at all. delay only took like 1-2 secs. For those who's complaning about this camera, I'd suggest you to do some research and read manual before using this awesome camera, or else you'll get lost and might write a negative feedback or review that might affect other people's interest to this camera. I have been using point & shoots before I switch to DSLR till I decided to get a smaller once again and this is the best P&S i've ever used! If you're on a budget under $199 then go for this one! I bought this with a $50 off sale!! I'd also recommend the sony cybershot h55 for $199 unless it's on sale. I'd recommend Sandisk Ultra for memory card, Especially for recording videos and if you'd like to save your picture safer and better. Don't ever use cheap or unknown memory cards for this kind of camera or else you'll be sorry and might end up with a negative feedback.

    Awesome Camera

I'm a professional photographer and i wanted something easy to use and something i could take with me anywhere in my pocket. I was also trying to get a camera that did well under low light with no flash, at night, and indoors and this was it. After spending a long time researching for a good inexpensive camera i decided to get this one and i couldn't be happier with it. The picture quality is awesome, not the sharpest (but easy to fix with photoshop or any other photo editing software). It does not come with an external charger, so you have to plug the power cable directly to the camera which i personally don't like so i just bought a charger on ebay for 12 bucks.

    Good Pocket Camera

I purchased the Nikon CoolPix S6000 to use as an alternate when I do not feel like brining my full frame digital SLR with me. This camera easily fits into my pocket and takes decent pictures as well as MPEG-4 movies. It’s menu is easy to scroll through and find adjustments. It is easy to use, good image quality, clear rear LCD. For someone who is used to photography with a very good SLR the shutter lag and lack of manual control take getting used to, however, for what it is, it is good … enough.

    Fantastic

I purchased this camera for takeing pictures of natural elements for video editing effects, and for just casual use rather then carying all my SLR equipment. This camera is amazing. It takes extremely awesome pictures in very low light areas as long as you give the camera a tiny bit longer to capture due to the fact that is features an amazing light measuring sensor. Which will alow the perfect amount of light in to capture the highest quality image possible. If you are completely use to SLR cameras and never used point an shoot cameras i want to first warn you that the quality of this camera is fantastic but please keep in mind that there is no point and shoot camera that can capture images like a SLR due to the Mirror hardware within the SLRs. All in all this camera is fantastic and extremely well worth the $200. I would probably even be will to pay $250. in regards to the negative reviews... First I would like to state that the people that mention that it has a lot of lag on capturing pictures first. They are most like using the wrong settings. They first start using it and it is set to standard capture mode. And if you are wanting to capture photos a lot faster they need to set it to continuous. So please do not pay attention to the reviews that say that it is slow. Cause they have the settings wrong. Next the other reason why people may say its slow or the quality is terrible is first well they are most likely use to a DSLR and there is no point and shoot camera that can capture images like a SLR due to the hardware.

    Good Camera for the Price

This camera turns on quick with no opening screens and was very easy to understand and operate. If you've used digital cameras before you should have no trouble navigating through the buttons. Previously I used a Kodak Easyshare and a Sony Cybershot and I was able to figure out the buttons in the first minutes of using it. It says it takes four hours to charge if it is run completely low which doesn't seem too bad and it didn't take that long to charge out of the box. I also like that this camera is slim, I would easily be able to put this in my back pocket if I needed to. I bought this camera because it had decent reviews on CNET and wanted something that was cheap and I could throw in my bag and not fret about it. I think this camera will serve my point-and-shoot needs.

I previously had a Nikon Coolpix 4100 camera. The time response between pictures took longer than I wanted. With my new Nikon Coolpix S6000, I get the quick response I want and the pictures are the ones I want. The camera is easy to use & quality of the pictures are excellent.

    Great Camera!

I bought this camera for my fiance for christmas this past year, and was pleasantly suprised of the quality of this camera. I bought the nikon s6000 for its high mp and the fact that it shoots hd video. We have a 1 yr old daughter and thought that this camera would be great to pull out in a hurry for quick pictures and boy i was right. I have never experienced any sort of lag between taking pictures as some of the other reviews have stated. On the contrary one of the things that my fiance and i were impressed with was the shutter speed and ability to shoot multiple pictures very quickly. I think that the picture quality of the photos is absolutely tremendous and have compared the pictures we have already taken to other pictures taken with a dslr camera and there is really no difference of the pictures. I think this camera would make a great gift for someone who is looking for a camera that can take high quality photos and take them fast. This camera for the value I believe is a better bet than spending a few more hundred dollars on a dslr camera and could be the only camera you need as it does take video with sound. If you are looking for an affordable quality camera and do not want to spend hundreds on another more pricey camera i highly recommend this camera.

I had been looking for a new digital camera for quite awhile. I found that this camera has everything you need in a point and shoot camera. It is easy to use, lots of features, and it's Nikon. That name alone means that it is quality from the lens, all the way down to the wrist strap. The camera has various picture modes, shutter speeds, and other stuff for professionals. If you are a novice, this camera will be great too. It's easy to use, and takes beautiflul pictures.

I love my camera! The only downside I have had so far is trying to figure out all the different settings. A lot of the time the picture will come out blurry and I have to mess with the settings to find one that is clear. I will turn on the shake stabilizer feature but it seems to still be blurry. Hopefully I get this figured out soon. Otherwise, I love it!
