• The Nikon COOLPIX L840 takes four LR6/L40 (AA-size) alkaline batteries, four FR6/L91 (AA-size) lithium batteries, or four EN-MH2 rechargeable Ni-MH batteries.

• It takes 4 double AAs. I'm assuming you can get rechargeable double AAs for that's what you choose to do.

• No. Four AA are needed. I like this because I don't have to carry a charger with me and don't have to worry about charging it if the batteries die when I'm out and about

• The Cool Pix L 840 uses standard AA batteries. You can use rechargeable AA's in the camera if you choose.
