• Yes, you can use EN-MH2 rechargeable Ni-MH batteries. They recommend charging all 4 batteries at the same time using Battery Charger MH-73.

• I use NiMH AA rechargables, works great, still long life. There is a setting for battery type in the camera toolbox, but not clear what that buys you.

• Yes! and the battery life is pretty good. I have some 2500s in mine and I haven't had to charge them even after a couple of hours of use.
