• The D3100 uses listed SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards. Memory cards with an SD Speed Class rating of 6 or faster are recommended for recording movies. Movie recording may stop unexpectedly when memory cards with lower Speed Class rating are used. You can find more information on Page# 177 of the User's Manual.

• This camera would need class 6 or higher. The faster the card the better performance, so I would say 10.

• I got the class 8 and 10, I don't see much difference, then again I'm not using in extreme temperatures. There would lie the difference for a professional photographer.
