Is this manual or automatic zoom null

Zoom is a function of the lens, not the camera. The included kit lens is not a powered zoom lens, and must be zoomed using a ring on the lens itself. This is usually considered better as it allows the composition to be adjusted more precisely. Some powered zoom lenses are made that are compatible with this camera, but not by Nikon.

The camera does not have a autofocus motor. for autofocus you will need lenses that have an autofocus motor built in
