You may be able to get great results with the lenses included in this kit, but the D3500 is also compatible with dedicated macro lenses. A dedicated macro lens that would be great for this camera is the AF-S DX Micro-NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G Macro Lens.

- Answer The lenses included in the D3500 Kit can both be manually focused and are able to auto-focus. The lenses will need to be manually zoomed by turning the lens barrel.

- Answer It includes both lenses I would recommend adding a UV filter if only to protect the lenses. One is a 55mm filter while the other is a 58 mm.

- Answer While both of these cameras would be great choices, their main differences are in what features are added. For instance, the D5600 has a touch screen that rotates out to the side, where as the D3500 has a fixed LCD screen that does not offer touch capabilities. The D5600 also offers a full custom settings menu that allows for extra options where the D3500 uses preset modes that you can go to depending on your shooting conditions.

QuestionI own a Nikon D300 and a Canon VIXIA HF R100. I don't need to replace my D300 for taking still shots. I'm just wondering if this D3500 would take better videos than my Canon? Would the price be worth the video upgrade?

- Answer I have a Vixia RF20 hd and I'd honestly say the video on my Vixia is better than the D3500, the 3500 only does 10 minutes at a time and gets very hot shooting video (won't even try it again unless I just really want video and the 3500 is all I have on me.
