The downside is you have to remember to do this before you start and if you change locations you then have to download the location data at the new location after you get there. Long answer:
If the lens is just AF (without the -S) then it might not work. If I recall correctly the AF ones have a literal screw socket along the edge of the lens which the camera has to have the “screwdriver” part to do the auto focusing. But the AF-S ones will work fine with the D7500.
