Hi TBattles, Once you have personalised the buds for your hearing via the App, you only need to connect to Bluetooth if you would like to stream media. The IQbuds do not need to be connected to Bluetooth if you would like to only use them for hearing augmentation.

You will only need to connect to Bluetooth if you would like to stream Bluetooth functions (such as music, podcasts, phone calls) or access the App. - Team Nuheara

Please try again later.it automatically connects to your Bluetooth device and you don’t have to use it to stream media you can still use it as normal amplifying device but it’s not that great as I would want it to be. if I was you I would wait for the IQbuds max which is coming out later this year . It should be a better version than this ; 5x faster processor, triple microphone system, speech amplifier etc. hope this info helps..
