No, the Office Jet will NOT print, copy, scan or function at all if any of the ink cartridges are completely empty. Is there any reason WHY you can't change the Ink Cartridge? I'm ONLY asking because I'm not sure why you haven't change it yet? Everyone thinks that it's expensive to sign up for the Instant Ink program. I have a Business and I've been using this service for the past 3 years. It is MORE expensive to purchase the INK Cartridges or have them Re-filled than to utilize their service. I have price checked their service against purchasing the Cartridges or having them Re-filled. Every year, I have ran a cost analysis against putting the Ink Jet on the HPInstant Ink Service and purchasing the Cartridges or Re-filling them. The service is 28% cheaper every time I run the analysis. However, You can choose to run your own comparison. Let me know how it turns out pretty please.
