Zone 2 is a seperate pre amp out. You can also configure Zone 2 to output on the surround back speaker taps, giving you a powered Zone 2. Turning it on and off and selecting sources is done with the remote control. You have to press the Zone 2 button on the remote, then the power buttons, input selection and volume controls are set to operate Zone 2. Check the owners manual. If you don't have it, download it from Onkyo's web portal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Alex, you will need to go into the setup menu by pressing the setup menu on the face of the unit or the remote control. Toggle down to (2) Speaker then (2-1) configuration and then toggle down to Powered Z2 and make sure you set it to YES. One great thing to note is that unlike our older units that only passed analog signals this unit will pass digital sources ie. HDMI, Digital Coax and Digital Optical to Zone 2. If you should have any other questions or concerns please feel free to email me at [email protected], Thanks, JT
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Alex, the 646 has what is called a Powered Zone 2 which allows you to listen to a different source than the main listening area. Please make sure that you turn Zone 2 on in the setup menu and also note that Zone 2 is an analog source so anything connected via HDMI, Digital Coax or Optical would require you to also connect the RCA Analog cables in order to hear the source via Zone 2. If you require more information please call our Product Support Team at 800-229-1687, if you prefer to email us you can do so at [email protected], Thanks, JT
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Alex, the TX-NR646 does not employ an A/B switch but it does have a Powered Zone 2 which would allow you to listen to a secondary audio source in a different room while watching or listening to something different in the main area.
