“Will this receiver work when I connect my Sony XBR-65X850F to You Tube.The cable box will covert the signal,but when I switch to YouTube,sound only comes through the TV speakers.I was told by Sony the cable box will convert, but not the tv receiver is old”

Yes it will, your Sony TV model provides an optical digital sound output port that needs to be connected to the optical digital input port on the Onkyo receiver. Then for all applications running from your Sony TV you need to select TV for sound input and you will get surround sound (depending on the application) from your receiver.

Please try again later.If your application (such as YouTube) is running on your smart TV then hopefully you have a digital optical output from your smart TV which should be connected to the Digital Optical Input on the back of the receiver. You then change your sound source to TV and you should hear sound (surround sound depending on the source) through the receiver.
