A:Answer I replaced an older Sony all-in-one system (and kept the speakers only) with this receiver - a couple things to keep in mind:
- My Sony speakers had plugs to connect to the system inputs, yours may have this too. If so, you will need to cut off the plugs, strip the wires, and connect to the Onkyo speaker outputs.
- The Sony system has an amplified output for the subwoofer and the Onkyo does not. To use your Sony subwoofer you will need to get a separate subwoofer amplifier (Less than $20 on Amazon) and a cable to connect the RCA subwoofer output on the Onkyo to your sub amp. You could also run in 5.0 speaker configuration with no subwoofer.
- Since my system was so old (DVD not Blu-ray), I didn't keep the main unit and got a cheap Blu-Ray player instead. You should be able to hook the Sony's HDMI output to the Onkyo input and it will work.
